My visit to Gurwin Jewish Nursing Home

Every year around Rosh Hashanah my grandma, Diana Axelrod, takes my sister and I to Gurwin Jewish Nursing Home in Commack. My sister and I volunteer there and we just love going. When we arrive and walk in with big smiles on our faces, everyone smiles. This is because they don’t see young children that much. When we get there we go into this big room with lots of tables. When the women and men start to arrive we go greet them, we ask them what they want to make. They have a choice of making a Rosh Hashanah card, or just a card to decorate their room with. There is a table set up with different kinds of cards, stickers, markers and pens. I look forward to going back to Gurwin every year. If there is an adult home in your neighborhood, see if you can volunteer there. I am sure you will love it as much as I do.
