Never too early to make snow emergency bags

I know it's just the start of the school year, and too early to think about the holidays, but before you know it they will be upon us. When snow does start to fall, it sure falls a lot, and some people have troubles because of it. Helping others, especially our older neighbors, is important to us.

At the start of winter last year, our teacher, Ms. Lynn Rudolph of the East Hampton Middle School, told us we were creating Blizzard Bags. I was very intrigued to know more about it. It was a great community project. What we did was design bags and deliver them to senior citizens, such as those who can't drive around, or anyone trapped in their houses due to the terrible snowfalls.

Each bag contains: canned goods that can be consumed without use of electricity; flashlights; blankets; emergency contact numbers; tasty treats; and a colorful design.

I think that this is a great way for our schools and many others to help contribute to the community and help those in need.
