Wooohoooo! Eighth-graders at Harry B. Thompson Middle School visited our nation’s capital last fall. This trip was very unique. More than 200 students went on this trip.

One of the many places we visited was The Marine Corps War Memorial. It was built in a manner that makes it seem like the flag is being raised or lowered.

We went to many different places that have different historic backgrounds. Some places we went to were The Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, The Reflecting Pool, U.S. Capitol, The White House, Vietnam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, World War II Memorial, the Franklin D. Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson and Martin Luther King Jr. memorials and the 9/11 Memorial. We also visited many museums — The National Museum of American History, The Air and Space Museum, Newseum, The National Archives, and The National Portrait Gallery. In the Newseum, there are all different types of newspapers and news from all over the world.
