After seeing “Pacific Rim Uprising,” we went back to Manhattan to interview Scott Eastwood at the Gramercy Park Hotel on Monday. We were all very excited yet nervous at the same time to meet him. He was very nice, welcoming and honest. He stars as Nate Lambert in the film. As he was on his way to the interview, he encountered a fan who said they were cousins. (The fan wasn’t his cousin.)

Scott grew up watching ’90s movies and decided he wanted to be an actor while in high school. As he watched the movies, such as “Forrest Gump,” he wanted to be a part of acting in them. He also liked the excitement of going to the movies. Before he started acting he had a few different jobs. He was a valet, a construction worker and a bartender.

Since his new movie is being released in theaters Friday, we asked him some questions regarding the role. Scott related to his character because he is a pilot in the movie and in real life. His biggest challenge in filming this movie was the choreography. He had to be in sync with his co-star, John Boyega (Jake Pentecost), when they were fighting at the same time.

He told us that it took one week to film the final battle scene. Scott spent 10 to 12 hours a day rehearsing and filming each day. In the movie Scott wears a suit with armor. He said it was very sweaty and took about 20 minutes to get all of it on. Since “Pacific Rim Uprising” has so much animation and graphics, it took five months to film the movie. They shot parts of it in China and Australia. Scott watched science-fiction movies such as “Godzilla” and “Alien” while growing up and enjoyed being in his own science-fiction movie for the first time.

We also asked questions on his life and career. He doesn’t like having his makeup and hair done for movies. He likes to be natural. He says it is uncomfortable for him as he is not much of a makeup person. He feels it is harder to watch himself act in a movie than to audition for a role. Scott’s father, Clint Eastwood, has many famous and iconic lines from his movies, and Scott hopes he will also have his own famous quotes from his future movies.

Scott has other hobbies such as surfing, golfing and fishing. When he is not out filming a new movie, you can find him spending his time somewhere hot and tropical. As far as his favorite movie he has acted in, he says he does not have one. His movies are all different genres, and it is hard to choose a favorite because they are all so different. Since Scott’s dad is in the film business, we wondered if Scott ever felt pressured to follow in his father’s footsteps. Scott never felt this way about his career. He wanted to make his own path.

He has had moments when he considered quitting after a hard day, which he said everyone has, and that those moments are just a part of the business. You just have to keep going. His advice to actors starting out is to never give up and to just keep going.
