Hey kids, here’s some exciting news! The kids in my class are reading to succeed. Succeed at what, you may ask? Succeed at improving our reading and earn a free ticket to a Six Flags theme park for a fantastic day of amusement park rides, food and fun. This nationwide program is available at 11 Six Flags around the country including Six Flags Great Adventure & Safari in New Jersey. If you are in grades K-6 you’re eligible to participate. Here’s how it works:

First, tell your teachers to register your class online atsixflags.com/read. (It is closed for this school year, but make sure you take advantage next year!) Next, you must complete 6 hours of recreational reading. You can read books, magazines, newspapers, or comic books (digital or hard copy). Students can read silently, aloud, or with an adult. Parents can read to their children or their children can read to them.

Be sure to complete your reading log and ask your parent to initial each time you read. Then give your completed reading logs to your teacher to submit. It’s a great opportunity for you and your family. So get busy and good luck. We are waiting for our tickets to arrive!
