Love for soccer led to track success

I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. When I started third grade I joined a travel soccer team and have been playing travel ever since. Our season never ends as we play winter, summer, spring and fall soccer which allows us to get better and better.

Last year, in seventh grade, was the first time I was able to join school sports. I played soccer, of course, and then I decided on volleyball (which I had gone to a camp for over the summer). But then the spring season came, and the choices were softball, lacrosse or track.

I thought track would be a good idea because of all the running I do in soccer, so I joined the track team. I was happy to find out that many of my friends were also trying track for the first time. Throughout the season I progressed and began doing really well!

I ran the 55-meter hurdles and the 400 meters and was part of the sprint medley. Our school's track team went undefeated, and I won almost all my races. Now I am really into running and am looking forward to this year’s track season. I had no idea this would become a sport I would love.

So take my advice and try a different sport or activity once in a while. You never know, it may become something you truly enjoy and an activity you will do for the rest of your life!
