Tae kwon do teaches discipline, persistence

Long Island Tae Kwon Do in Franklin Square is a mixed martial arts school owned by Thomas Festa. I have gone to this great school for seven years. Here, they emphasize discipline and the value of persisting until goals are reached. Thomas believes in following a high standard of values to bring out the good and increase the quality of life. This school teaches you how to be motivated, disciplined and, most of all, respectful. It's an amazing accomplishment if you don't quit and you keep moving forward.

In this mixed martial arts school, you do forms and spar against one of the trainers. There are all different groups. One is the Ninja Turtles (ages 4-5). They learn basics, such as punching, kicking and the starting forms. There also is the children's group (ages 6-9), which teaches discipline and motivation. There is a Junior Program (ages 10-14), which teaches you all the high standard forms and additions. Finally, there is an adult class (14 and older). You learn all the finishing forms and you teach classes.

My first time there, I was 4. Ever since, my life has changed. Now I know self-defense. We learn self-defense by doing additions. In additions, you come up with your own technique and you try it out on a partner in your school.

In this school I also spar. Sparring is when you fight kids in your class. In sparring you wear pads, just in case. I've always loved tae kwon do because of my idol, Bruce Lee. He was so strong, and he brought this technique to America.
