I reviewed "The Batali Brothers Cookbook" by Leo and Benno Batali (HarperCollins Publishers).
This cookbook has many delicious-looking pictures and recipes. With my classmates, I made the recipe for macerated strawberries from the book, and it was very simple. There were just a few ingredients and a few steps. The recipe turned out delicious. We were surprised that the recipe called for salt on top of strawberries, but we think the salt helps the strawberries last longer.
The book has a recipe for purple potatoes. We are going to try that recipe next. We think the pictures help us understand how to put these recipes together, and I think everyone can be a good cook if they follow the directions. This is a good cookbook if you want to start cooking.
