The Greenway Trail is great for sightseeing

Have you ever been on the Greenway Trail? It is a paved 3.3-mile path to walk on going through East Setauket and Port Jefferson. It was created during the 1960s by the State Department of Transportation.

If you like sightseeing and nature, this is a place where you can grasp the wonders of the Greenway. People can walk, bike, explore, observe nature and take their dogs there. Along the path, there are many benches you can sit on. If you get bored while you are on the Greenway Trail, you can compete to see who can spot the most animals.

When we went on the Greenway, it was a great experience. There were birds' nests that were surprisingly low (only 4 feet off the ground). The wildlife along the pathway was stunning. We saw many squirrels and deer. When you looked around, you could even spot red-tailed hawks, redheaded woodpeckers, sparrows and more. We caught sight of grackles and crows flying above our heads. We even saw some tracks from wild animals. In addition, there were lots of bat boxes high up in trees.

Walking through nature can be thrilling, while at the same time, it can be relaxing and peaceful. The trail is open from dawn until dusk. You can get there from a number of access points. Check out the website for directions and other information: or threevillagecommunity
