Last summer I went to try out for the United States tennis program at the National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. At first, I was so excited, but when I got there I became very nervous. My dad and mom told me that everything was going to be fine, but I was not sure if that was the kind of pep talk I needed. Even though I have been playing since age 2, it seemed very challenging to me.
At first, the pro who was teaching me told our group that we had to run two laps around the tennis court. Then, it was time to hit some tennis balls. At the end of my training session, my coach told me and my dad that he would tell me the results in about two weeks. That is when I got really nervous. My mom and dad told me that everything was going to be fine, but that still did not help at all.
In two weeks, I found out my results. I did not get in, but I knew that it was not the end of the world. At first, I was pretty sad, but at the same time I was kind of happy.
Like my mom always says, "You learn from your mistakes." She was correct, Now I know I have to work on my volleys and serves.
