In the fifth grade, we get to do a special social studies project called the Hacker Trail.
The Hacker Trail is a simulation where we travel west to Oregon Country in wagon trains. We do this because we are learning about westward expansion.
Everyone gets to choose an imaginary family, and we write diary entries and do fun challenges.
Our teacher puts us in wagon trains, and we have to work together to get to Oregon Country. We get to choose items that we want to bring.
I think the Hacker Trail is a great opportunity to learn how the pioneers going west lived.
