Two Long Island 17-year-olds — Lennon Ashton of Plainview and Katie Zimmer of Commack — are scheduled to open at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 10, for The Lords of 52nd Street at The Space at Westbury Theater, 250 Post Ave., Westbury. The Lords of 52nd Street recorded and toured with Billy Joel for more than a decade and now play the Piano Man’s music.

“I’m really looking forward to opening for all these talented musicians from Billy Joel’s original band,” says Ashton, who plays guitar and piano as half of Lennon and Katie: The Acoustic Duo. The duo will be doing a 40-minute, classic rock set that includes songs by Rush, Yes and The Beatles as well as original work.

Zimmer, who is the vocalist, says the two have been practicing like crazy: “The band we’re playing for is iconic, so we have a lot of pressure.”
