Twenty-four Long Island firehouses are opening their doors to let families tour the stations, try on gear and do and see more during the Recruit NY Open House weekend.

The Fireman's Association of the State of New York (FASNY) is welcoming kids to explore local firehouses and trucks on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26. Fire department volunteers will conduct tours, demonstrate firefighting techniques and allow visitors to try on turnout gear. Volunteer firefighters will also discuss the requirements and rewards of the job.

More than 500 firehouses are participating in New York State, including the 24 local firehouses in Nassau and Suffolk.

To find a participating fire department in your neighborhood, visit recruitny.org. Use #RecruitNY and #FASNY to share Instagram photos of your kids having fun on the fire trucks this weekend.
