October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Long Islanders are helping to raise awareness.

Girls in sixth through 12th grades, parents and community members are welcome to hear the story of 16-year-old Jamie Isaacs of Lake Grove and her mom, Anne, in a program titled Surviving Bullies from 6:45 to 9 p.m. Friday at Freeport Recreation Center at 130 E. Merrick Rd.

They will speak about Jamie's experience being bullied. Their presentation, sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, will be followed by a panel discussion about bullying.

INFO: $25 per person for nonregistered Girl Scouts and adults; $10 for registered Girl Scouts and adults; advance registration preferred.
