Mystery Oreo cream flavor revealed: Fruity Pebbles

"Smells like cereal," said one Long Island mom of the new Mystery Oreo cookie. Photo Credit: Oreo

If you guessed that the mystery Oreo flavor was Fruity Pebbles, let out a celebratory “Yabba Dabba Do!”

In October, Nabisco released an unidentified new Oreo cream and encouraged cookie-consumers to submit their flavor guesses by the end of November for a chance to win $50,000. Oreo ended the cookie conundrum by revealing the flavor.  Those who put their taste buds to the test and correctly guessed it was the mixed-fruit, Flinstones-themed cereal are now in the running for the grand prize.

The winner, and five others who will each be awarded $10,000, will be selected around Dec. 11, according to Oreo.

Shortly after the contest opened, Newsday issued the Mystery Oreo challenge to kids, moms and colleagues by offering samples.  Some had the right thinking but the wrong cereal brand by guessing Froot Loops.  Joy Truberg of Centereach correctly guessed Fruity Pebbles.

Though the mystery has been solved, Oreo and Fruity Pebbles fans can continue purchasing the fruity cereal flavored cookie while the mystery cookie supplies last.
