Two programs for children and teens with autism and their families will begin Sept. 20 and Sept. 27 at the Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor.
Both programs run on 10 Tuesday afternoons between September and June and are $250 per participant.
Creative Expeditions, for children ages 5 to 12, begins Sept. 20. Parents and caregivers gain behavioral methods they can employ when bringing their child into a community setting, and families will engage in fun, interactive gallery experiences that provide opportunities for everyone to look at and talk about art in a group setting. Hands-on art-making activities will encourage experimentation with new materials.
Teen Compass, for teens and young adults ages 13 to 21, begins Sept. 27. The workshops, based on current exhibitions in the galleries, will encourage participants to explore different methods of art making and design.
