Local Stop & Shop stores and Produce for Kids are partnering for the second annual Healthy Schools, Healthy Minds campaign. Since its creation in 2002, Produce for Kids has raised more than $3.7 million for children’s nonprofit organizations including Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools and PBS KIDS among others, according to a news release.
Produce for Kids encourages healthy eating among families by providing simple, healthy meal solutions and resources for parents. Shoppers also can find Produce for Kids display unit featuring characters from popular Sprout shows, "LazyTown" and "Noodle and Doodle" in the produce section of Stop & Shop stores.
DonorsChoose.org is an online charity that helps teachers across the country obtain classroom supplies. According to the Produce for Kids campaign, 230,000 public and charter school teachers have used the charity to secure $120 million in books, art supplies, technology and other resources to enhance student learning.
