Sticking around for spring break and looking for things to do with the kids?
Sur La Table in Manhasset is offering a kids cooking camp on Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 18 from 10 a.m. to noon for children ages 8 to 12.
Led by a Sur La Table chef-instructor, the camp will cover cooking techniques such as basic knife skills, how to read and follow a recipe, measuring and mixing and the importance of kitchen safety.
Kids will cook dishes inspired by cuisines of various counties. Here's a sample:
Monday: Italy (pasta dough, ricotta tortellini with basil pesto sauce, vanilla panna cotta)
Tuesday: Germany (soft pretzels with honey mustard, chicken schnitzel with potato salad, pear streusel cake)
Wednesday: France (pear salad with herb vinaigrette, ham and cheese crepes, chocolate souffle)
Thursday: Spain (chicken paella, potato and red pepper Spanish omelet, vanilla custard flan)
Friday: Cooking tournament
