St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner. To help you get into the holiday, we found a few family-friendly events on Long Island:
Lucky Leprechauns, anytime between 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday, at the Long Island Children's Museum, 11 Davis Ave., Garden City. Kids can create a leprechaun finger puppet and bring some luck o' the Irish into their homes. Free with museum admission of $12, $11 for seniors and free for younger than 1.
Build a Leprechaun trap, using simple design and construction, anytime from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Maritime Explorium, 101 E. Broadway, Port Jefferson. Included in Explorium admission of $5 for everyone older than 1.
Discover Irish pirates and make your own Jolly Roger, which was flown by the pirates who ruled the seven seas. Drop in anytime between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Saturday at The Whaling Museum & Education Center, 301 Main St. (Route 25A), Cold Spring Harbor. For children ages 6 to 12; free with museum admission of $6 per adult, $5 per child.
Head on a St. Patrick's Day walk with a blessing and a poem at Mashashimuet Park, 373 Main St., Sag Harbor on Sunday at 10 a.m. The free event is hosted by the Southampton Trails Preservation Society.
Enjoy a St. Patrick's Day Celebration at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, 1303 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage on Saturday, March 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free event will include Irish entertainment, traditional Irish food and beverages, vendors and more. Tackapausha Museum will host a Birds of Prey presentation as well.
