A new animated video for one of Grammy Award winner and Lynbrook resident Danny Weinkauf’s latest kids’ tunes was created by a 15-year-old high school student from Massachusetts.

Madison Durand, a rising sophomore, was recruited by Weinkauf to do the cartoon-style video for “Only One You.” To see the video, visit nwsdy.li/video

“I never thought I would be able to have this kind of experience so young,” Durand said. “I’m extremely grateful for it.” She worked on the video over several months after school and on weekends.

Weinkauf wanted to give an aspiring artist some exposure, he said, and also thought a kid would have a good idea of what other kids would like. “She’s a very good cartoonist,” he said. “She added elements to the video that are really heartwarming. I was so impressed.”

Weinkauf liked the video so much that he asked Durand if she wanted to collaborate on another — she’s working on a video now for Weinkauf’s “Eyes in the Back of Her Head.” Both songs are from his new “Red Pants Band” album, which came out in July.

Weinkauf heard about Durand from professional videographer Tim Labonte, who has also done work for Weinkauf and who ran an after-school video club that Durand belonged to. “She’s incredible,” Labonte said.
