The Bronx Zoo through my daughter's eyes

We all have our favorite childhood memories and one of mine is visiting the Bronx Zoo. And since I want Maggie to experience all the things I enjoyed as a child, naturally I brought her there for a visit.

What I love about the Bronx Zoo is that even though there are new exhibits and attractions, some things are exactly the same. For example, the children's zoo. As soon as you walk in, you see the bird's nest, which is a great photo opp for parents. My favorite part used to be the prairie dog holes, but unfortunately Maggie was a bit frightened by it, even though my husband, Jason, took her in. The big rabbit ears and other climbing stations are still the same, as well.

While Maggie is still too young to fully enjoy everything the zoo has to offer, there were two things she loved the most. First, she adored the petting zoo. Jason fed the goats and all she wanted to do was pet them.

Secondly, the Bug Carousel is a must. This ride wasn't there when I was a kid and since it was her first time on a carousel, well, any ride, I was curious to see how she would react. At first she didn't like to be strapped in and she tried to stand up. Once the carousel started moving, her entire face lit up. You couldn't wipe the smile off her face if you tried! She kept saying "wow, wow, wow" over and over and over again.

We will go back when she's a bit older but I can't wait for our next adventure with Maggie! I think we'll check out one of the petting zoo farms on Long Island next.
