Looking to donate this holiday season? Head over to The Container Store in Garden City with a gift for children in the hospital.

The Holiday Hugs Program runs through Tuesday, Dec. 15 at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza location. The retailer is accepting new, unwrapped gifts, books, small toys and games, toiletries, gift cards and stocking stuffers for young patients at Winthrop University Hospital. The Container Store empolyees will then deliver the gifts to the children the week of December 20.

“We are so pleased to partner with The Container Store this year to bring smiles to many patients faces at Winthrop-University Hospital,” said Nicole Almedia, MS, CCLS, Director of the Child Life Program at Winthrop. “The holidays are an especially wonderful time for giving and we deeply appreciate all that the community and The Container Store are doing to spread holiday hugs to our patients.”

“Our hope is that our customers will join us in providing these gifts to the thousands of children who have to spend the holidays in the hospital,” said Melissa Reiff, president and COO of The Container Store in a news release. “We hope to brighten their day and bring joy to them and their families through this gesture of love from everyone associated with The Container Store.”
