The fun continues: 5 things to do with the kids in September

Summer vacation may soon be over, but there are plenty of activities to look forward to doing with the kids come September.

Butterfly House

COST $3 per adult, $2 per senior citizen or child

More than 200 butterflies live in the Nature Center's butterfly house. Get a guided tour of the house and learn the stages of a butterfly's life. Children's craft included.

Kids Day at the 35th Annual Hampton Classic Horse Show

COST Free for children younger than 12; $10 a person or $20 a carload

Free pony rides, a "quick-draw" caricaturist, a petting zoo, a face painter, a singing cowboy and more await families during Kids Day. (Kids Day is sponsored by Cablevision, which owns Newsday.)

COST All events are included with admission of $10 for adults; $8 for senior citizens; $5 for ages 7 to 17 and free for ages 6 and younger.

Kidsfest is an afternoon filled with fun, educational activities and music. The Shady Storybook Stroll is a lesson on environmental preservation, including a kids' garden tour and a reading of the Dr. Seuss classic "The Lorax." At Maskers of Disguise, children will disguise themselves as frogs, rabbits and other wildlife residents.

Bari Koral Family Rock Band at Family Festival by the Sea
