U.S. News and World Report has released its annual Best Colleges rankings for 2013. No surprises in the national universities category: Harvard, Princeton and Yale garnered the top three spots.
The rest of the top 10 includes Columbia, University of Chicago, MIT, Stanford, Duke, University of Pennsylvania and California Institute of Technology and Dartmouth. (The last two tied for 10th.) All of them had tuition and fees of at least $38,650.
The highest New York State school to rank on the list is Binghamton at No. 89. Stony Brook is ranked 92.
Williams, Amherst and Swarthmore nailed the top three spots for liberal arts colleges. They were followed by Middlebury, Pomona, Bowdoin, Wellesley, Carleton, Haverford and Claremont McKenna.
