Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to Ocean Week and more, there's plenty of activities happening on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities this weekend:

'The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites' at Tilles Center (Route 25A, Brookville). Three performances for children ages 3 and up include "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," "Little Cloud" and "The Mixed-Up Chameleon" on Saturday at 2 p.m. Price: $15-$23.

Teen Safe Driving Program at West Islip Fire Department (309 Union Blvd., West Islip). On Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., a program for parents and teens that includes hands-on demonstrations and presentations about the dangers of distracted driving; hosted by Good Samaritan Hospital and the Aram Chowdhury Foundation. Registration is required. Price: Free

Musical: 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' at Mt. Sinai High School (110 North Country Rd., Mt. Sinai). Students will perform "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" on Friday-Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Price: $15 adults, $7 students and seniors

Genetic Diversity at Long Island Science Center (101 W. Main St., Riverhead). Kids can create their own fingerprint identification card on Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Price: $5.

Thar She Blows! Family Day at The Whaling Museum and Education Center (301 Main St., Cold Spring Harbor). On Sunday from noon-3 p.m., families can join in for festivities celebrating Ocean Week by creating arts of the sea, hearing live sea shanties, touching select artifacts and more. Price: Free with paid admission ($6 adults, $5 children ages 5-18; face-painting and scrimshaw $1).
