Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From Raggedy Ann and Disney's "Mulan" to tropical fun, crafts and more, there's much to do on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for fun, family-friendly activities this weekend:
1. Tropical PLAYcation at Long Island Children's Museum (11 Davis Ave., Garden City). On Friday from 6-9 p.m., explore the islands with steel drums, limbo contests, crafts, face painting, beach games and refreshments. Price: $12.
2. Raggedy Ann and Andy, or Friends and Friends and Friends at Theatre Three (412 Main St., Port Jefferson). Children's favorite rag dolls come to life in an adventure about friendship, loyalty and love on Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. Price: $10.
3. Tea with Dolly and Me at 1750 David Conklin Farmhouse Museum (2 High St., Huntington). On Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 p.m., kids and adults can make yarn dolls, embroidery and an old-fashioned toy. Then enjoy refreshments with your favorite doll and teacup. Price: $25 children, $10 adult.
5. Wintering Habits of Birds at South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center (377 Sag Harbor Tpke., Bridgehampton). Learn what birds need to survive the winter and why they sing less during colder months, then have a chance to feed a few on Sunday at 10 a.m. Price: $7, $5 children ages 3-12; registration is required.
