Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From "Strawberry Shortcake" and talking dogs to spring-themed crafts and more, there's much to do on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for fun, family-friendly activities this weekend:

1. Seaside Stories and Crafts: Spring Equinox at Fire Island National Seashore Visitor Center (Watch Hill, Fire Island). Recommended for kids ages 5-7, but all are welcome on Saturday at noon to listen to stories about spring and create a seasonal craft. Price: Free.

2. Kids Night Out: Art Exploration at Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center (134 Cove Rd., Oyster Bay). Kids will be inspired by animals and nature as they draw, act and write, followed by a night hike, campfire and an animal presentation on Saturday from 6-9 p.m. Price: $30; registration is required.

3. Strawberry Shortcake: Follow Your Berry Own Beat at NYCB Theatre (960 Brush Hollow Rd., Westbury). On Sunday at 1 p.m. Strawberry Shortcake takes the stage along with her pals the Doodlepops. Price: $19.50 and up.

4. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day at Landmark on Main Street (232 Main St., Port Washington). Alexander is having a rotten day. He wakes up with gum in his hair, he trips on a skateboard and then he drops his sweater in the sink -- all before breakfast. Sing along with Alexander's misadventures in this musical based on the best-selling children's book, on Sunday at 2 p.m. Price: $18.

5. Todd Oliver: Dogs Gone Wild at Van Nostrand Theatre at Suffolk Community College (Crooked Hill Rd., Brentwood). Comedian and ventriloquist Todd Oliver appears on stage with three talking dogs on Sunday at 3 p.m. Price: $11.
