Weekend family fun on Long Island: Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella and more

Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From Winnie the Pooh and Cinderella to color crafts, nature exploration and more, there's so much to do on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities this weekend:

Winnie the Pooh at BroadHollow Theatre Company (700 Hempstead Tpke., Elmont). Kids can join Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Tiger in a live children's theater performance based on the book by A. A. Milne on Saturday at 2 p.m. Price: $12, $10 in advance.

Primitive Pursuits: Weekend Winter Wilderness Explorers at Manor Plains Nature Park (93 Manor Rd., Huntington). Children ages 7-11 will build shelters, play games, make fire from friction, use natural materials for crafts, search for animal tracks and more on Saturday and Sunday from noon-3 p.m. Registration is required. Price: $30 each day.

Cinderella at Bellmore Movies (222 Pettit Ave., Bellmore). Join everyone's favorite princess in a live performance of this classic fairy tale by Plaza Theatrical Productions on Saturday at 11 a.m. Price: $10.

Color Chromatography at the Maritime Explorium (101 East Broadway, Port Jefferson). On Saturday and Sunday from 1-5 p.m., learn what makes color and break colors down to their chemical components. Price: $5.

Leo Lionni's "Swimmy" and Other Stories at Landmark on Main Street (232 Main St., Port Washington). A puppet theater production based on Leo Lionni's stories "Swimmy," "Inch by Inch" and "Frederick" on Sunday 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Price: $18.
