Weekend family fun on Long Island: 'Winnie-the-Pooh,' fall festivals and more

Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From fall festivals and "Winnie the Pooh" to bicycle safety and more, there is plenty happening on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities during the weekend:

For the Kids of East Islip Carnival at Timber Point Elementary School (200 Timber Point Rd., East Islip). Kids and families can enjoy rides, games and food on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. Price: Free, fee for rides and food.

"Winnie the Pooh" at the Long Island Children's Museum (11 Davis Ave., Garden City). On Saturday and Sunday, at 11:30 a.m., families can enjoy the Plaza Theatrical Production based on the adventures of the fictional anthropomorphic bear created by A.A. Milne. Price: $12.

Fall Family Fun Festival at Hicks Nurseries (100 Jericho Tpke., Westbury). Fun and educational activities for everyone in the family include children’s workshops, lawn and garden care seminars, pumpkin contests, hayrides, planting demos and more on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Price: Free.

Bicycle Safety Day at Mineola Bicycle (475 Jericho Tpke., Mineola). This interactive skills course is for children ages 4 to 10 to learn about bicycle safety on Sunday, from noon to 3 p.m. When the course is completed. children will receive a free T-shirt and certificate. There will also be face-painting, tattoos, prizes and raffles. Children must be accompanied by an adult and provide their own bicycle and helmet. Price: Free.

Harvest and Seafood Festival at Captree State Park (off Robert Moses Causeway, West Islip). On Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., families can enjoy local produce, boat rides, crab races, pony rides, inflatables, entertainment and more. Price: $8 parking fee.
