Unlikely front row at Marc Badgley and James Mischka’s show at the tents Tuesday included a posse of women wearing modified and feminized New York Jets' jerseys.
The group, led by Suzanne Johnson – Johnson as in Woody Johnson, owner of the team -- were doing a little guerilla marketing for a new line of football clothes for women launching soon. “Women like football,” they said in unison.
Uh, yeah, so what are you doing here?
“We love Marc and James,” they said in unison. And, confided Suzanne, “They’re the only clothes my husband let’s me buy. He likes them too.”
So what’s to buy for spring?
Well, not too much for a tailgate party but plenty of formal wear, much of it embellished, lots in soft sherbet colors, some watery florals, cocktail dresses, gowns. Somewhat more casual stuff came from the designers’ lower end line, Mark + James including a watermelon linen romper, pink metallic Capri pants, an emerald leather jacket, and fun, flowy turquoise chiffon pants which were a touchdown.
