Rain fell hard outside the tents at Lincoln Center before the Monique Lhuillier show at New York Fashion Week Saturday, but backstage, beauty and wardrobe teams worked even harder to take guests to a warm, sunny place.
“I was in Turkey, looking at the water, and I said, 'This is it,' " Lhuillier said." 'This is the feeling I want for spring.' "
Lhuillier said it took 3 1/2 months to prepare for the spring show.
“We've been working on this nonstop,“ she said. “It's exciting to now see it done and put it out there .?.?. I'm ready to let it go.“
Hair stylists gave the look of wet roots and beachy waves, and CND nail artists used a lavender pearl effect to mimic the shiny inside of an oyster shell beneath the water.
MAC makeup artists worked with a palette of electric blue and gold on the eyes and gave the skin a bronzed glow to complement the deep jewel tones and decadent beading of the gowns.
