While most New Yorkers were alarmed at the news of an approaching blizzard this week, designer Rebecca Minkoff had to worry about her Friday afternoon show.

"I said, 'Please Lord let it be bad at night and not this morning,'" Minkoff said. And she lucked out -- Nicky Hilton, Ashlee Simpson, Shenae Grimes, Coco Rocha and many others still made it to Lincoln Center to see her fall 2013 collection go down the runway.

In two words, Minkoff described the collection as "modern femininity."

"I think I've taken our girl and just given her more options," she told Newsday. "I think it's a true sportswear collection now. There's everything from outerwear to silk dresses to tops -- it's just a more rounded-out collection."

Standing among racks of her coveted clothing, shoes and handbags, Minkoff picked one yellow coat with black and grey sleeves as her favorite.

"That's my piece that I already gave a test run to," she said with a guilty grin.

The coat was a stunner, but it might not hold up against a blizzard. As for how to stay stylish on messy winter days, Minkoff said it's all in the shoes.

"There's really chic rainboots nowadays," she said. "Get a great pair of rain boots, some jeans and a big puffer with a hood."

Minkoff pal and "Man Repeller" blogger Leandra Medine's advice? "Stay inside!"

Now that the show is over and went off without a hitch, Minkoff will take her friend's advice.

"We're gonna have a day of Scrabble and Hot Toddys," she said of her post-Fashion Week plans. "Keep ourselves warm from the blizzard."
