Ready to take the dive? Carmen Marc Valvo’s scuba-inspired collection was a new twist from this seasoned hand. Models in two-tone wigs set the stage for this predominantly black and white runway that exuded a bit of aggression and lots of pow.
Sexy, body con cocktail frocks — some pairing athletic mesh and black leather — were just shy of edgy. A couple of swimsuits — one a scuba-style maillot and another, a graphic black and white job — were downright saucy.
There were risqué slits all over the place and lots textural embellishment — glass beads and pewter paillettes — to add interest and glam. For the less daring, dropwaisted skirts, longer mesh tunics and some frothy double face lace.
And oh yes, the shoes — all from Valvo’s own collection — studded sandals, sandal booties, beaded wedges. They got the "feel" of approval from show-goer Vanessa Williams who wore a pair of high-heeled pointy numbers with ankle straps. “I’ve got to tell Carmen, these shoes are reallllly comfortable,” she said.
