Two big names you don’t expect to see together: Drew Barrymore and Walmart. But as Barrymore’s long term contract for Cover Girl expires, (she’s been a face of and co-creative director since 2007), her next big role in the cosmetics industry is the launch of Flower, her own cosmetics line, that will hit 1,509 Walmart stores in January according to Women’s Wear Daily.
Barrymore co-owns the line of color cosmetics with design and manufacturing firm Maesa Group according to WWD. The collection includes lipsticks, nail polishes, loose powder, mascara and a highly touted BB cream (a blemish balm). The products will range in price from $4.98 to $13.98, and are packaged in white with rose gold accents. The name of the product is the same, probably not coincidentally, with her production company which is called Flower Films.
Barrymore told WWD she spent the past year developing the products, and is deeply involved in the entire process. “I don’t want to sit there and hope it works out. I want to be in the middle of the mix, making sure it works out. I can’t sleep at night. I care.”
Perhaps a little creative cred can go to Barrymore’s 2-month-old baby girl, Olive Kopelman, who probably helps the star stay up through the night.
