In February, our thoughts turn to matters of the heart -- and not just the romantic side of things.
We’re talking about the Go Red for Women movement, the annual campaign to educate women about the dangers of heart disease.
Macy’s has been a major sponsor since 2004 and this year events include an appearance Friday by actress Jennie Garth (noon at the Herald Square store, 8th floor).
The spokeswoman for Go Red, Garth will speak about her own experience with heart disease and encourage other woman to participate in “Speak Up,” a national casting call that encourages women similarly affected to share their stories and possibly become Go Red spokeswomen themselves. Of course, you can also shop for the cause. Friday is officially Wear Red Day, and customers wearing red (any red, lipstick and nail polish count) to any Macy’s will get a 20 per cent discount on an assortment of merchandise.
