Life is the pits these days for “Gossip Girl” star Jessica Szohr. Literally. The actress and fashionista is promoting the new “Dove Ultimate go sleeveless Deodorant,” that promises softer, smoother underarms in five days.

According to a study commissioned by the company of 534 women aged 18-34, 93% thought their underarms were unattractive. Some 53% said that the condition of their underarms dictated what they wear, and 62% said they’ve got some underarm problems such as discoloration, spots, pimples, soreness and itchiness. Okay, a real issue…but ew.

Szohr, who claims she uses the product --and her publicist backs her up -- ”I saw her put it on this morning” -- says that she too has to deal with this kind of embarrassing issue. “There have definitely been times and moments,” that her underarms have not been up to par. (We can’t believe we’re asking a star about this by the way.) “It’s skin, it doesn’t see the sun, whether you wax or shave, there are times, and working with Dove has made me more comfortable sleeveless.”

Of late, there have been loads of celebs who have become the face of a perfume or cosmetic. There is something a little less glamorous about endorsing an underarm product but Szohr doesn’t care. “Deodorant is something we use every day, you want to smell good, not have body odor and now there’s one that is also moisturizing, I want to promote something that makes women feel comfortable.”

And if smoother, more attractive, unsweaty underarms are not enough, check out Dove's Fashion Challenge  that runs until May 27 at where  women can tap into their inner fashionista by designing sleeveless shirts. The five designs that get the most Facebook votes will be produced for the designer’s family and friends. One grand prizewinner will be selected by Szohr and a panel of “sleeveless experts,” and receive a  $5,000 shopping spree in New York City with the actress.

We tried to get hints from Szohr on what would tickle her fancy in terms of shirts. “Something that’s original and creative and relevant and in,” she said adding that she’s hoping it will be fashion forward and comfortable.

As for the spree, Szohr who says her own style is “tomboy, bohemian chic,” and whose favorite designers include Chris Benz, Marchesa and Marc Jacobs,” is not one to linger. “I’m a very quick shopper. I don’t try things on,” says the actress. So word to the lucky  winner: “Shop fast.”
