Neat feet

After spending much of his career launching other people's lines, shoe biz exec Jay Litvack has a line all his own. Raised in East Rockaway and now living in Roslyn, Litvack says he believes "we need to bring back the passion of shoemaking." His J. Litvack line, $195 to $350, includes shoes and boots with chunky, stacked heels and urban edge, now debuting for fall at Shoe Box stores; Shag, Roslyn; Bloomingdale's, Roosevelt Field; Bloomingdales.com and lordandtaylor.com.

Foot focus

Little-known fact -- a small, family-owned business in Port Washington has its hand in a lot of men's shoes, so to speak. For more than 40 years, Harbor Footwear Group has owned and/or marketed various affordable shoe lines, from Giorgio Brutini (pointy-toed, office-ready) to GBX (sporty, distressed styles for the urban hipster, like this red/brown chukka boot, $75). Look for those lines at The Annex Shoppe, Greenvale; giorgiobrutini.com and gbxshoe.com.
