"Project Runway's" season 6 winner, Irina Shabayeva, made her solo debut at the tents and we're wondering how she found the time. She already has a line at Kleinfeld's and just released a capsule collection for INC International Concepts at Macy's. Her namesake line ran hot and cold for fall, and we mean that both in terms of her intention . . . and our take.
Inspired by fire and ice, she sent a slew of dresses and coats down the runway in hot-hot red (also gray, white and black) with laser-cut snowflake designs. A fun concept, which looked good with other sculptural pieces, like a flared camel waistcoat. But the flakes kept coming . . . and coming, kind of like the weather lately. Enough is enough.
She shows promise, and we imagine as she matures she'll get better at editing. And pacing her models — two models showed up trailing behind the finale in pretty gowns we hadn't seen in the actual show (presumably there was a little quick-change snafu backstage). Like we said . . . give her time.
