It’s all about townie pride in Port Washington on Saturday as dozens of merchants join in the fun of “Port Holiday Magic,” a townwide event designed to get holiday shoppers buying locally.

Stores and restaurants are all in.  At new, fanciful gift hub Wit & Whim, there’s a 15 percent student discount, free gift with purchase and a raffle prize worth $125. The find of the moment: on-trend women’s clothes at Entrée designer boutique, where light refreshments and wine will be served up along with a 20 percent discount.  Down the street at the cleverly stocked  Lou, Babs & Moogs, lovely Christmas ornaments will be specially priced for the day and hot toddies and desserts will be offered. Need to take a shopping breather for lunch or dinner? Check out seafood and Italian restaurant Marinos on the Bay, where a shopping receipt from the day will get you a 10 percent discount on your meal. And, there is so much more.

Don’t bother worrying about parking. Two trolleys will deliver you to the doors of shops all over town. Port Holiday Magic coincides with the American Express national “Small Business Saturday” program, which encourages residents to consider shopping locally during the holiday season instead of only in malls and big box stores.

Ahh, to be a townie. Visit the Port Holiday Magic Facebook page for more information on the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to  6 p.m.  What a blast!
