The students of East Rockaway High School had a rough start to the 2012-13 school year after superstorm Sandy displaced them for about six months.
But the seniors closed the year on a serious high note -- literally, thanks to singers Jordin Sparks and Darren Criss.
East Rockaway students danced the night away in their complimentary dresses, tuxedos and shoes from Rent the Runway, Sydney’s Closet, Men’s Wearhouse and Nine West and had their makeup done by Lancome and Drybar, but that wasn't all.
Celebrity party planner and "My Fair Wedding" host David Tutera transformed Sands Point Preserve in Port Washington with living trees, stilt walkers and ribbon dancers for a "Midsummer Night’s Dream" theme.
Throughout the night, partygoers were entertained by an aerial bartender, acrobats and contortionists.
"American Idol" winner Sparks, and "Glee" star Criss topped off the night with live performances and also mingled with guests.
So, was it all they were hoping for?
"The experience was both absolutely amazing and heartwarming," Cornell-bound senior Lindsay Dower said. "I was touched by the kindness of all of the individuals who helped put the evening together. After a rough school year, this was an incredible way to celebrate the unity of our small town."
