Former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi can dish it out but David Barton put the singer through her paces Thursday as part of DavidBartonGym’s initiative to raise awareness—and funds—for ovarian cancer. The benefit honors Barton’s sister, Diane Barton—and you can help, too.
Barton has declared Saturday, September 24, 2011, “Diane’s Day,” so if you’re kicking around the city this weekend why not do more than kick—for just a $50 donation, you get a personal training session on Saturday with any of his trainers at any of the three DavidBartonGym locations in Manhattan (or Miami, Chicago or Seattle, if you happen to be there), with all proceeds being donated to The Clearity Foundation, a nonprofit founded by a medical researcher and ovarian cancer survivor and dedicated to funding ovarian cancer research.
DioGuardi, now starring in Broadway’s “Chicago,” has offered her support to the cause for two years running now, working out with Barton. (She’s the one on the left in the cute GapBodyFit workout gear—he’s the personal trainer, gym owner (and physical specimen) extraordinaire on the right with biceps the size of her head.) Last year, the effort raised $115,000.
