Keds, best known for the simple white sneaker, is partnering with the Whitney Museum of American Art and contemporary artist Jenny Holzer to create the KedsWhitney Collection by Jenny Holzer. The launch of the collection coincides with Keds’ sponsorship of the museum’s summer session, July 1 to Sept. 26.

“I have a renewed respect for shoe designers,” says Holzer in a news release. Known for her use of words in a range of media, such as LED signs, T-shirts and stone benches, Holzer embellished the Keds with the phrase, “Protect me from what I want."

The Holzer designs, $70 for the sneakers, $75 for high-tops, are available at select Bloomingdale’s stores and at bloomingdales.com, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Whitney. Coming in September: Collections by artists Laura Owens and Sarah Crowner.
