Languid, clean-lined dresses at Halston

There’s been much ado about Halston with the appointment of designer Marios Schwab, and then along comes Sarah Jessica Parker, who is now the president of Halston Heritage, a lower priced collection.

If we were in Schwab’s shoes (the ones on his runway were inspired by geisha sandals and architectural lines and were topped with pony), we’d feel a bit unnerved by the stars very big presence, but his show at Stage 37 was good despite the hoopla.

Inspired by the fluidity of mercury and the stylings of the movie, “The Eyes of Laura Mars,” there were languid, clean-lined dresses -- some tiny, some long -- that smacked of Halston past, and Schwab’s new vision that included molding, embellishment and a touch of fur.

And the crowd seemed enthralled with the clothes…that is until SJP walked in.
