After years of success in the fashion industry, Marc Jacobs has ventured out to create his first line of cosmetics. Women’s Wear Daily reports that the designer has collaborated with Sephora Originals to create Marc Jacobs Beauty, a collection of color cosmetics that will hit Sephora stores Aug. 9.

The launch of Jacobs’ color cosmetics line will mark the first time that Sephora has premiered a new brand simultaneously in all Sephora stores in the United States and Canada, and the beauty giant hopes it will become its first global launch, hitting stores in Europe soon after.

“I’m surprised by how delighted I am with the results,” Jacobs told WWD. “Now I want to see what the customer thinks. That’s the ultimate.”

The collection's cosmetics are divided into four categories. Smart Complexion is made up of foundations, concealers and powders. Blacquer, a favorite of Jacobs, is a collection of precision pen eyeliners, lash lifters and gel crayons. Hi-Per Color adds vibrant lip products, blush, eye shadows, bronzers and nail lacquers. Boy Tested, Girl Approved, contains lip balms, brow tamer and concealer.

Jacobs, always one to push boundaries between male and female fashion, aims to please all customers. The line's brow tamer gel, concealer pen and other makeup products are made for both men and women to enjoy.

If it's basic, natural shades you're looking for, however, don't turn to this collection. Jacobs' palette of bright, fun colors hopes to liven up your basic makeup routine.

“I believe in individuality and what I think comes across as most stylish and modern is a kind of irreverence and a sort of self confidence,” Jacobs told WWD.  “I don’t find beauty in perfection, meaning Photoshop and airbrush. That doesn’t appeal to me. I like a gap between the teeth; I like mascara that does run a little bit or makeup that’s smudged. I like a bit of imperfection -- I find it just more interesting.”

Jacobs’ witty personality reflects some of the names of his products including a line of LoveMarc gel lipstick available in 16 shades, each of which are named after his favorite movies.
