It’s always a thriller when the first lady wears clothes that are accessible – and she does this a lot. From J.Crew to Talbots to H&M, Michelle Obama likes to mix up the approachable duds with the high-enders. And today she did it again. For the first time, she donned Marc by Marc Jacobs, the designer’s more affordable second line.
It seemed a perfect choice for the occasion as she and the president headed off on Air Force One for Chile in Rio de Janeiro. The cheery silk frock features a scoop neck, tie at the waist and multi-colored stripes on a white background with a thick band of mustardy yellow at the hem.
It’s far from bargain basement with a price tag of $628 (this however, a fraction of the cost of some of her evening wear) but if you want it, you can get it right now at Saks Fifth Avenue. It’s called the Simone dress and it’s part of the Spring 2011 collection. Better hurry!
