Missoni flowers up a Fiat

Aspiring designer Teresa Maccapani Missoni customized a Fiat

Teresa Maccapani Missoni laughs—LAUGHS—in her big, sexy, Italian way, at cars that are just one shade, and prefers instead this jazzy orchid pattern, which she designed exclusively for a Fiat 500 POP to be auctioned off tonight during the Smiling Children Foundation Gala at the Geneva Country Club. Yeah, Switzerland.

Missoni, an aspiring designer (and daughter of the House of Missoni’s creative director), pimps this Fiat with more than just floral bodywork. The interior has fuchsia and turquoise corduroy (from Missoni Home), plus artificial grass car mats (hilarious) and REAL Vanda orchids placed inside. (As if keeping orchids alive on your windowsill isn’t hard enough.)

Actress / producer Rosanna Arquette and Belgian singer Axelle Red are “ambassadors” for the evening, which I guess means they’re famous but they’ll get your coat from the coat check for you if you have your stub.

Besides the flowery Fiat, they’re also auctioning off a 1969 Fiat 500 and a 1976 Vespa 50—and all for a good cause. The Smiling Children Foundation—which is changing its name to the Womanity Foundation—helps to support women in communities around the world, giving them access to education, employment and means to find a voice in society, politics or government institutions.

Nice goal. But…”Womanity?” Yeah, I get it. Like “humanity.” But…it’s not the easiest word to say. Womanity. Still…awesome cause. And ya gotta dig that Fiat.
