Hail Neiman Marcus, the more than 100,000-square-foot temple of luxury opening its swanky doors at Roosevelt Field in Garden City on Feb. 19. The wow factor is off the charts...here are a few of our favorite things.
Step into the light
A dramatic two-story crystal scrim that seems to emanate light is set against a polished black granite entrance. Just a hint of the luxury experience that awaits.
Over the top
For the man who has everything, and we do mean everything, there's always Stefano Ricci's croc jacket, a mere $120,000. It's the only one in the U.S. at the moment, though of course they'll be happy to take orders.
The Memory Mirror
It's not, as they say, your mother's mirror. It's a new technology that allows shoppers to get the w-h-o-l-e story, as in being able to see their outfits in a 360-degree view and compare clothing options side by side. Added bonus? Actually a giant video screen and camera, the mirror records an eight-second video that can be password-protected and emailed to friends and family. So those questions such as "How do I look in this?," can be answered by email recipients or, better still, the mirror itself. We LOVE it.
Swift-footed guys will flock towards these wildly cool Maison Margiela duck feather high-top sneakers ensconced in multi-color dyed feathers, $2,180. So fun, they quack us up.
Butterflies are not free
Indeed, butterflies are not free. But they’re wild and fantastic, as in these cat-eye knockouts with 3D glitter butterflies sculpted onto an acetate frame by Anna-Karin Karlsson, $865
Dead phone? No worries, just lock it into the store's high-tech ChargeItSpot station and walk away. It's securely locked up and will be ready to go when you are.
