He's a 6-foot-5, 250-pound ex-NFL linebacker. He had 14 tackles in one game when the New York Giants won Super Bowl XXI in 1987.
Warm and fuzzy might not be the first two adjectives that come to mind when fans think of Carl Banks, but his new line of women's wear is a whole 'nother story.
Next week, Banks will launch "4Her"-- sueded fleece, combed cotton and French terry sweatshirts, sweatpants and T-shirts for the female football fan.
"We don't want female fans to feel limited in fashion," says Banks. "So many women would love to wear their favorite team's clothing, but they don't want a men's garment."
4Her includes V-neck tees, butt-grazing graphics and other flirty styles, all licensed by the NFL and costing between $19.95 and $49.95.
Banks will appear on the Home Shopping Network (HSN) Monday with an array of NFL wives and mothers by his side. The clothing sold on on HSN will come in sizes 10 and up, to "embrace the average American woman," says Banks, who added that being "big and tall" has affected his fashion choices.
"We wanted to create something trim and relevant that you would expect to see on anyone regardless of size," he said.
All sizes will be available when the line hits Macy's, Lord & Taylor and Bon-Ton stores.
On air, Banks will give away two round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets and two tickets to an NFL game of choice. Fans can enter by liking G-III on Facebook and following @CarlBanksGIII on Twitter.
