You need a little glamour when you’re selling office-worthy, not- so-cutting edge clothes, and Talbots may have found the answer in their latest muse, Julianne Moore, who takes over as the new face for the company’s Spring 2011 campaign, replacing supermodel Linda Evangelista.

“I think it’s not the old Talbots we’re used to,” says Moore on the company’s sizzle video.   Moore, who is glamorous but not flashy, sexy but subtle, may be the perfect persona to glam up the brand, which has been amping up its image of late.

Shot in a lush greenhouse setting by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the ageless 50-year-old actress, elevates sturdy (as in the clothes) to flirty…she looks lovely.  The campaign will launch in March issues of magazines, the company’s windows and catalogue.

?“Julianne Moore represents a timeless, ageless, natural American beauty that Talbots has always strived to symbolize. She is a modern woman who embodies confidence and strength,” says Talbots’ chief creative officer Michael Smaldone.

The brand got a major image bump in 2009, when fashionista and first lady Michelle Obama wore a Talbots dress on the cover of Essence.  She has continued to pepper her outfits with pieces from company.
