Plan your Black Friday

For some shoppers, it's never too early to starting mapping out a Black Friday gameplan. The day after Thanksgiving has long been a bargain-shoppers paradise, with retail stores dangling steep discounts on electronics, clothing, toys and other holiday gifts.

Here's the latest timeline of what's opening when on Long Island. Check back for updates as well as early word on top doorbuster deals.


6 a.m. (Thanksgiving Day)

Kmart opens, doorbusters include Panasonic 42-inch plasma HDTV for $399.99. 70 percent off on jewelry, buy one-get one free on Little Tikes toys, up to 40 percent off bedding and bath; small kitchen appliances starting at $4.99.

9 a.m.

Old Navy opens with performance fleece accessories such as gloves, scarves and hats for $5, kids' frost free jackets for $20, adult frost free jackets for $29, fashion jeans for kids and baby for $15 and sweaters for the whole family starting at $15.

4 p.m.

Michaels craft stores open

9 p.m. (Thanksgiving Day)

Kmart closes

Best Buy, Westbury, outdoor showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, free refreshments

Old Nay closes

10 p.m. (Thanksgiving Day)

Walmart stores open with first round of doorbusters -- $5 Barbie, Disney Princess and Bratz dolls; $10 jeans, $4.47 children's pajama sets; $9.44 Black & Decker coffee maker; electronics discounts ($498 for 51-inch Samsung plasma TV, $69 Magellan GPS, etc.). Electornics discounts begin at midnight with more at 8 a.m.

Tanger Factory Outlet Center in Riverhead and The Arches in Deer Park open - the first 200 shoppers in line at Tanger Shopper Services at 10 p.m. get $10 gift certificate; first 100 in line at 2 a.m. get $20 Tanger gift card; from 2 to 6 a.m. register to win 51-inch flat-screen television, drawing at 6:05 a.m., must be present to win.

Michael's craft stores close

Target  locations open, as does Macy's locations at The Source, Roosevelt Field, Walt Whitman and Smith Haven malls.

Walmart adds electronics doorbusters, plus small kitchen appliances for $9.44; board games for $3.44; and a Pulse Electric Scooter for $69.

Kohl's opens with $9.99 for select sweaters, 50 percent off Fischer-Price, PlaySkool, LIttle Tikes, Barbie and other toys

Macy's stores open at most locations

BestBuy opens, doorbusters last all day (no rainchecks) and include Sharp 42-inch LCD 1080p HDTV, $199; LG 3.7-cubic-foot, 9-cycle, front-loading washer, $549.99; LG 7.3-cubic-foot, 9-cycle electric dryer, $549.99 Nook Simple Touch Reader by Barnes and Noble, $79.99; doorbuster purchasing tickets may be given for some items

Old Navy opens with $15 jeans for adults and $10 jeans for kids, $5 children's performance fleece tops and bottoms, $5 graphic tees for the whole family, $25 adult wool-blend pea coats and $1 performance fleece scarves. 

4 a.m.

Most JCPenney stores open with more than 500 doorbuster deals including small kitchen appliances for $9.88, women's boots for $19.99-$29.99 and a 4-piece luggage set for $39.88.

Sears stores open -- 900 doorbusters including Kenmore® washer and dryer for $469.99 each (regularly $940.99 each),  Zenith 50-inch HDTV for $499.99 (regularly $699.99) and a KitchenAid Pro500 stand mixer for $249.99 (regularly $329.99). 

Roosevelt Field and Smith Haven malls open, first 250 at guest services at Roosevelt Field get free holiday-scented candle; Smith Haven shoppers through the door get free holiday shopping planner/receipt holder (while supplies last); enjoy free movies at the Rejuvenation Station  at both malls

5 a.m.

Lord & Taylor opens

Broadway Mall opens

Kmart opens with $9.99 sweaters, 20 percent to 50 percent off select electroncis and $19.99 for such toys as Fischer-Price Dora Holiday Sparkle Doll, Barbie Volkswagon Beetle and Tonka Mighty Fire Truck

P.C. Richard & Son locations open -- sale prices are honored all day.

Home Depot opens with appliance doorbusters including Maytag 25-cubic-foot French Door refrigerator for $1,798, LG 27.5-cubic-foot French Door refrigerator for $2,899 and a Sharp 2.0-cubic-foot countertop stainless steel microwave for $169.

Michaels opens

6 a.m.

The Mall at The Source opens.

Kmart opens

Staples retail stores open with early bird deals until noon including HP laptops starting at $299, an LG 32-inch wide-screen LED TV for $299.99, a NOOK Color for $199 (with $25 rebate) and an Acer Iconia Tablet for $299 (regularly $399). 

7 a.m.

Petsmart opens, doorbusters include Martha Stewart Pets Houndstooth bed, $54.99; Nature's Miracle Advanced Pet Suite with antimicrobial protection, $29.99-$139.99; Petholiday by Toy Shoppe cat toys, $2.99-$15.99

8 a.m.

Pier 1 Imports opens

Walmart adds more electronics doorbusters including 65-inch Toshiba LCD TV for $998 and a Samsung Smart Blu-ray Home Theater System for $198.

Walt Whitman Shops opens, first 1,000 through the door get a free holiday shopping planner/receipt holder; vist Simon guest services for free holiday flyer with Black Friday savings.

10 a.m.

Ikea opens with doorbusters including $9.99 Mala easel for $9.99, 7-piece 365+ cookware set for $19.99 Saturday, 50 percent off all plush toys all weekend and free kid's combo meal ($2.49 value).

11 a.m.
